If you look at those photos from 1x.com, do you really care about what editing tools the artists use? If you are happy with that tool and workflow, use it. I think in the end, it 's a personal preference. I also use Topaz Denoise for noise reduction if the shadow noise gets tougher to remove in Lightroom. I use DPP from time to time only when I have underexposed images as it tends to give me a cleaner image to begin with. Since I use multiple brands of cameras, I myself use Adobe Lightroom to simplify my workflow to achieve the results that I want. Otherwise, it is up to the demosaicing algorithm of the editing tools including Adobe and CaptureOne, let alone the open source tools. If you are a purist, don't look elsewhere. My point to this thread is, purists would tend to stick to Canon DPP which is exactly the same engine as the in-camera processing. In any case, AI computational photography is here to stay like it or not and Google is leading its way.

Than I use the best tool called the Relight Tool. The primary ones I use are the ZoneMapper tool that can be used to set the White Point and the Black Point. It is locked but you can unlock and play with the settings if you wish, although it's probably not best unless the curve is broken somehow. Although the lecture was many years ago and software has changed since then I'm still happy with the Canon DPP conversion. I have optimisation for all my lenses and use it in the conversion. I've used Canon RAW conversion after hearing a technical lecture on the subject by a man from Kodak who compared different RAW conversion software.
